Calistoga is one of the Wine Country's most charming towns, with some great history and low traffic cycling. It also is home to world class wineries and their wide choice of classic as well as unique wines). We then fit you to a Marin Hybrid or Specialized Comfort bike, along with a helmet, bag, and comfortable gel-seat. Your leader goes over the “Rules of the Road” as well as how to operate the bike. We're off at about 10:00am . Your leader will explain the sights and local wine facts & history. We travel the quiet country lanes to our first winery stop. After a tour of the grounds we taste the wine and then move along to our second winery where we are often able to enjoy a private barrel tasting. The support van is nearby for wine purchases, water or moral support. We cycle along easy and flat roads to our third winery and our picnic spot. This location is home to one of Napa's oldest champagne producers. It is a great stop with a short, fun and informative tour that compliments the traditional still wineries. After the tour, you'll taste up to 5 different styles of champagne.
Dining in the Wine Country is quite an event. Shade oaks provide a canopy with views of the valley. Enjoy a wine country gourmet lunch with Mediterranean and other pasta salad, local organic salad greens, fresh baked bread, artisan cheeses, seasonal fruit, and dessert. After our lunch we return to our bikes rested and recharged. We continue down the Silverado Trail. The Palisades Mountains on one side and the vines on the other frame our ride as we head for our next winery. The last winery on our stop is know for its superb collection of art and antiquities, as well as intriguing architecture and excellent wines. After a tasting, we return to Calistoga, arriving around 3:30 pm . Here we bid you farewell and thank you for riding with us!
