As people have discovered the health benefits of organic and natural foods, the wine industry has also shifted to an appreciation of bio-dynamic/organic methods for winemaking. Health benefits aside, wines produced in this way are extraordinary, displaying a complexity of character and a higher standard quality. Bio-dynamic farming methods utilize a vineyard’s natural resources to cultivate grapes without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or genetically modified organisms. These practices not only produce exceptional grapes, but actually heal the earth for future generations. In this program, you will be led on a journey of discovery and understanding as you meet the proprietors while visiting their innovative bio-dynamic facilities in four different Northern California counties. 4 Days/3 Nights Day 1: Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and transported, via luxury transportation, to your private villa. After a relaxing afternoon, your personal chef will prepare a gourmet dining experience paired with exquisite wine in the intimacy of your villa. Day 2: You will be enjoying the views and vines of Napa and Lake Counties. After enjoying a continental breakfast, your expedition will begin mid-morning with a picturesque helicopter ride across Napa County, whereupon luxury transportation will take you to your first winery tour. You will be personally greeted by the property’s winemaker to learn the art and science behind bio-dynamic/organic cultivation. The winemaker will break bread with you during a casual lunch, while sharing the secrets of embracing food and wine. In the late afternoon, you will have a luxury transfer back to the helicopter pad for a flight to Ceago Vinegarden for an exclusive tour and winemaker dinner. Ceago’s creation in 1993, was inspired by the Native American belief that people must interact with their land in a holistic fashion to enjoy and preserve a high-quality of life. This was one of the first wineries to farm with organic practices, and by 1997 it was officially certified bio-dynamic. After your proprietor dinner, the helicopter will fly you under the moonlight back to your private villa. Day 3: In today’s travels you will experience Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. This mid-morning helicopter flight will take you in a new direction, toward Mendocino County, where you will be the private guests at an organic cattle ranch. After exploring the rugged property on a guided hike you will enjoy a grilled organic beef lunch paired with wine. The last stop on your tour will be in the Valley of the Moon of Sonoma County at Quarryhill Botanical Garden. Here during your private tour, you can explore a unique collection of temperate plants from such diverse places as China, Japan, India, Taiwan and Nepal. Next, you will delight your pallet with a late afternoon wine tour at the last of our bio-dynamic wineries. The luxury transportation will then bring you back to your villa, where once again your personal chef will create a culinary masterpiece of your choosing. Day 4: We will transfer you back to the airport after your bio-dynamic organic expedition for your outbound departing flight. Includes: Airport transfers, villa rental for three nights and housekeeping charges, helicopter flights, private tours and tastings at exclusive venues, two casual lunches, a private chef, three gourmet dinners, wines, service charge and tax.
